TAKE A BREAK Come check out The Arc of Lane County’s Take a Break! The program is geared to for families who have children ages 0 to 17 with developmental disabilities and their siblings. The program is designed to give parents respite so they can take a break. Parents can register their children for 6 hours, or any time between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm to fit your schedule. Staff ratio will be approximately 1 staff for every 5 children present. Program schedule is September - June. Please bring brown bag lunch. Take A Break Schedule is open The first Saturday of every month at our Springfield location 4181 E Street. Next Program: Saturday, February 2, 2013 Registration Deadline: Monday, January 21, 2013 To register or for more information please contact: RSVP'S MUST BE MADE TO ATTEND. YOU MAY ONLY SIGN UP FOR 1 MONTH AT A TIME. Cost: Starts at $10 per child and $5 per sibling and snacks are provided. New registrations require documentation to be filled out one week prior to attendance. All registrations and cancellations need to be completed by Wednesday. About The Center Children are divided into smaller groups depending on age and skill level. They have access to different activities, including 2 sensory rooms. Library: The room is spacious and enjoys an abundance of natural light from a large overhead skylight. The room is divided into 4 main areas. Computer Lab Puzzles/Games Educational Toys Imaginative Play Curriculum Tools Books Sensory Room 1: Visual Stimulation. Room hosts a variety of specialized equipment including an interactive bubble column, black light activities and switch activated toys. Sensory Room 2: Auditory/Smell. Room features a music bed that vibrates to the rhythm of the music, wind chimes, musical instruments and switch activated toys. Discovery Room: Touch/Cause/Effect. Room is designed for children to explore their environment through an interactive environment. The room is divided into 3 areas including: science, cause & effect and ‘touch boxes.’ Art Room: The Art Room hosts any supplies that children can utilize to create their own masterpieces. Kitchen: The kitchen also receives natural light from an overhead skylight. Children enjoy snack each day in the kitchen and engage in healthy cooking each Wednesday. Playground: The playground is fully fenced and has a wooden play structure to encourage gross motor skills. The playground also has a large grassy area, patio for picnics, and a garden. The playground is a safe place for children to explore their environment and engage in active play. |
